The Hadiths say and /or actions in the prophet Muhammad (pbuh) which were witness from the companions in the prophet Muhammad(pbuh) and after that written down for record. Since muslims think that the prophets of Allah(swt) are pure and innocent, for Allah(swt) would only pick the best among mankind who have been tested inside their lives to lead those who went astray and bring them to the right path.
Say (O Muslims), "We trust Allah understanding that which has been sent into us which that is sent as a result of Ibrahim (Abraham), Isma'il (Ishmael), Ishaq (Isaac), Ya'qub (Jacob), and also to Al-Asbat [the offspring from the twelve sons of Ya'qub (Jacob)], understanding that that is given to Musa (Moses) and '??sa (Jesus), and that that is given to the prophets off their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them, and to Him we've got submitted (in Islam)."
Today since the last Prophet Muhammad is there won't be any more prophets (prophet Isa (Jesus)(AS) will return no new book but to uphold the Quran ) so only the Quran and Hadiths may give you true guidance.
